Defend Brittney Griner's Release. She Doesn't Deserve To Rot In A Russian Prison On Pot Charges. She's Just a Political Prisoner And Victim of Geopolitical Games.

If We Are No Different Than The Folks Who Imprisoned The Innocent J6 Folks, Also Political Prisoners, Then We Don't Stand For Justice Or Civil Liberties Or The Rule Of Law

Griner's release from a Russian prison has certainly whipped up a lot of emotions and many on the Republican side are furious and absolutely believe that she deserves to rot in a Russian prison for many years because of a pot charge. We know that this is BS and that hatred for Griner is based on her political views that absolutely lean left and anti-American.

I don't like Brittney Griner and I certainly don't like her politics. That said, she doesn't deserve to rot in a Russian prison on a pot possession charge. If we wish that injustice be inflicted upon our political enemies, we are no different than the thugs who imprisoned the J6 folks. The J6 folks are political prisoners of Merrick Garland, Nancy Pelosi and Democrats. Griner was a political prisoner and pawn in geopolitical games. I strongly advocate for civil liberties and oppose all police state tactics, foreign and domestic.

Yes, it deeply saddens me that so many conservatives really aren't that much different than the dastardly Democrats and embrace the idea of locking up their political enemies as punishment for thinking differently. Hate is not what liberty and tolerance are about but in America there is no shortage of hate.

Yes, the Griner fiasco is being spun by all sides. In America the right wing echo chamber is having a meltdown over the prisoner swap that traded Griner for a Russian arms dealer, Viktor Bout. When Putin nabbed Griner on a pot charge Vlad immediately understood that he had in his possession a powerful negotiating tool and he did. As an American hating, black, pot smoking, lesbian WNBA basketball star, Griner was a darling of the left which made her an instant enemy of the right. Griner was constantly vilified by the right and they all cheered when she was sentenced to 9 years in a Russian Gulag. I wasn't because I understand that Griner was a victim just as much as the J6 folks were victims.

The right wing folks are furious that the Biden Administration traded a Russian arms dealer dubbed the Merchant of Death by Republicans for Griner.

I have a difficult time with any American calling any foreigner a Merchant of Death but it's definitely an issue worth discussing. America and its foreign policy is the biggest Merchant of Death on the planet because America is also the biggest arms dealer on the planet.

Conservatives are always fuming about Benghazi; 4 Americans died on September 11, 2012 and largely because then Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and President Obama failed to provide security. But what was Benghazi really about? It was a CIA op gone bad that was using Benghazi as a base to funnel arms/aid to jihadists in Syria. The goal was to overthrow the moderate President Assad and install a Taliban type government in religiously diverse Syria. Assad ran the most tolerant country in the region and he's well respected by folks of all religious stripes.

The Obama Administration got caught literally giving military grade weapons to Mexican drug cartels. That operation was dubbed Fast and Furious. The cartels killed a ton of folks with those arms including Americans.

The Biden Administration continues to arm Ukraine's Zelensky with a ton of arms, arms that are exclusively being used to murder Russian speaking Ukrainians in a genocide being run by the CIA.

Well I could go on and on about the real Merchants of Death but it's important to understand that when we haphazardly accuse someone of being a Merchant of Death, we need to do our own soul searching and understand our own deeds and actions that kill and continue to kill folks all over the world.

If you want a legitimate complaint to hurl against the Biden Administration, it's this:

Why hasn't the Biden Administration done much of anything to obtain the release former US Marine Paul Whelan who is serving a 16-year prison sentence in Russia on a 2020 espionage conviction?

Is it because it’s a higher priority to spring a black lesbian than it is to negotiate for the release a US Marine?

Meanwhile, I will continue to advocate for PEACE and OPPOSE US foreign policy because it’s evil, murderous and a lot of folks are caught in its geopolitcal web.
